2009 MPTC Duathlon The very popular and always unique MPTC Duathlon is all set for August 16, 2009. With over 250 competitors taking part in each of the last two races, it is encouraged that you enter early to avoid disappointment. It will also be race three in the hotly contested Brooks duathlon series. This year the race heads to a new location, the Holden proving ground in Lang Lang, just an easy 80 minute drive from the CBD. This facility has a fully closed ‘hot mix’ road circuit and flat running terrain, which will result in some extremely fast and safe racing and no doubt many a PB being smashed on the run/bike/run format. This MPTC race will also have the added bite of being the last chance for a solid hit out for athletes heading off to the Olympic and Sprint distance world championships. For those heading up to the Gold Coast, why not come and check out your form against some of your competitors or simply just come and catch up and share some winter training war stories? There are a few restrictions however, kids under 12 are unfortunatley not allowed on the proving grounds due to it being classed as a worksite. Also all cameras and mobile phones with cameras will need to be surrendered at the guard house due to sensitive material onsite. MPTC will have a number of approved photographers out on course endeavouring to get as many pictures as possible and these will be made available for you for free post race.
