2011/2012 CLUB AQUATHON SERIES
Over the 2011/2012 Summer, club will conduct an Aquathon Series. The races will be held in December, January, February and March. Exact dates and locations will be indicated on this page.
MPTC AQUATHLON SERIES – Next race Mornington Mills Beach 6.00pm 15th February 2012
This is a great series and not enough members are enjoying these. Please get the word out – they are our best kept secret!
The races are swim run swim run format and are very testing. I can tell you these are probably some of the most enjoyable races you will do as they involve all club members. Brian Vernon runs these on a handicap basis and they cater for all standards.
The objective is to get most of the competitors over the line at around the same time.
Aquathon series will be decided by the best 3 from 4 races held.
RACE #2 Report
Highlights were – there were four leaders during the race but only one winner – Clinton Watson who started from scratch and ran everyone down!
Top six were:
Clinton Watson - 10 Points
John Barker – 9 Points
Andrew Wesley – 8 Points
Julie Baker – 7 points
Mick Smith – 6 Points
John Goode – 5 Points

RACE #3 - 15 February 2012

Race 3 Report - John Barker
Highlights were – there were again four leaders in the race but this time a different winner – Jarrod Csakvari.
Brian Vernon the master handicapper increased Clinton Watson’s handicap by 90 seconds and this was enough !
Given the race another 400 metres on the sand and I think it would have been about right!
Wes got a flyer in the last transitions and luckily the TO’s were looking the other way!
Great spectator interest with Jenno, Gary, Sam etc down cheering us on!
