On 18 February 2017 MPTC and the wider triathlon community lost Michelle Blake after a four year battle with ovarian cancer. Michelle shared a 30+ year history with both the Mornington Peninsula Triathlon Club and our sport.
She was a many time Ironman including representing Australia twice in Kona. She also raced in Melbourne just 4 months after completing chemotherapy.
Michelle was tenacious, hard working, generous in her support of others and loved and admired many.

We are inspired by her attitude in both life and her battle against cancer and her ability to smile despite her pain. She often quoted the line ‘where there is breath there’s a chance’.

At our 30th anniversary celebration  we awarded a scholarship for the Performance Group Athlete that displays and demonstrates commitment and dedication to the sport, training and racing.

In 2017, we congratulate Lily Van Raay as the recipient of the inaugural Michelle Blake Scholarship Award.
